One Woman Show: I HEAR YOU

Salma Francoise Faraji
Arts in Moray (AIM) Artist in Residence
Supported by Dance North Scotland

Salma is sharing a story which breaks a long-held and necessary silence. She is exploring BSL (British Sign Language) as a dance language. This work was developed in Moray where Salma experienced race issues. She journaled her process and the sharing will include some of her writing.

The work contains personal stories for the audience who will encircle this tender work. You are invited to witness this journey and offer feedback in an informal gathering post-performance.

I Hear You: The Silence Project has been growing since 2021. Envisaged as a one-woman show for dance artist Salma Faraji, in collaboration with Fleur Darkin. The two artists came together in the aftermath of Darkin’s work My Friends Take Care of Me which touched on sensitive issues around abuse of power. They are excited to be navigating this journey together.

Salma is currently an artist in residence with Dance North as part of the Arts in Moray (AIM) Collective programme. AIM is a Culture Collective project, funded by Scottish Government through Creative Scotland.

Sincere gratitude to my mentor, Christine Devaney, for supporting and offering me guidance and encouragement in the creative process of a personal journey.

Welcome ALL.
