Ruth Kent joins Dance North as Dance Development Lead

The team at Dance North are absolutely delighted to welcome Ruth Kent as our new Dance Development Lead. In this role, Ruth will plan, programme and deliver a high-quality Participatory Dance Programme for all ages and abilities across Moray and the surrounding areas, with an emphasis on health and wellbeing projects.

Having studied in Scotland and at Laban Centre London, Ruth has enjoyed a varied and diverse career in the Arts and brings over twenty years experience to the role. Previous roles include Cultural Co-ordinator for Dance, Aberdeenshire, Dance Development Manager, Citymoves Dance Agency and most recently Performance and Events Officer, Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums. She’s also twice directed the DanceLive festival of Contemporary Dance and continues to teach, perform and create as a freelance artist.

She is a specialist in inclusive dance practise and also has experience delivering the Dance for Parkinson’s programme initiated by Scottish Ballet. She regularly works with elders groups in Moray and young people in rural areas to get people moving, creative and connected. Since the lockdown she’s also been busy teaching on Zoom.

Ruth is delighted to be joining the Dance North team! She’s looking forward to meeting new people and to working with others to make fantastic dance projects happen in Moray and beyond.
